The traditional Alvan wedding involves the ritual of handfasting, where the couple's hands are tied by the living vine. The couple shares a drink of Water of Life from a sacred chalice. They are barefoot and with their heads uncovered to symbolize an uninterrupted connection with heaven and earth. The couple exchanges vows without witnesses, their love for each other being their only witness. The ritual takes place in an ethereal tent outside of time and season, suspended between dimensions by the means of celestial magic.

Yaret is a 7th Century Angle from Northumbria, whose father was an Alva (or, as the Dark Ages humans called those advanced humanoid aliens, an elf), who for the last thirteen hundred years have lived in the Otherworld.
